There could be billions of them out there. Granted, that doesn't necessarily mean there aren't more of them out there, we only see like 7 of them in Dead Space 3. Nukes or planet crackers should be able to kill the Brethren Moons. But just like humans, they're made of flesh and thus there's no reason they can't be killed. Instead, they're giant, organic, highly intelligent beings that are thought of as being divine by smaller and relatively dumber organisms (like humans) who can't comprehend their true nature and foolishly worship them. ![]() Keep in mind, Lovecraftian space monsters are usually not portrayed as being literally divine deities. I understand people like the cliffhanger ending of DS3's Awakened because it fits the theme of hopelessness common in Lovecraftian horror, but at the very least I would have liked to seen humanity (or what remains of it) put up a fight, regardless of whether or not humanity defeats the Brethren Moons and ends the cycle.
